A lifetime full of art
Helmut has been drawing his entire life, capturing special moments, feelings, and the wonders of nature. He studied econometrics and quality management. Born in Indonesia and raised in the Netherlands, he always felt like he was living in two worlds with two different cultures. After his retirement, he recently resumed his interest in painting. With the aim of reaching and moving people by conveying a message, his work reflects universal lessons and humorous situations in animal life, wonders and symbolism in nature, and the expression of feelings and emotions in human portraits.
My unique artistic style
My work is distinguished by the way I translate feelings and emotions into the lives of animals. Each piece attempts to tell a story that resonates with the viewer, often with a nod to the human condition through the eyes of nature.
Inspiration from two worlds
My inspiration stems from the constant tension and harmony between my Indonesian roots and my Dutch upbringing. This dual cultural background allows me to explore common elements in different cultures, universal lessons, humorous situations in animal life, and the symbolism of nature in my art. Human portraits offer a platform for the expression of deep feelings and emotions.
